Happy Friday! I’m linking up with Kelly’s Korner for a favorite holiday recipes link-up!
Growing up, my family made a variety of Christmas cookies to send to relatives and share with neighbors. My parents have continue this tradition, and over Thanksgiving we made a batch of sand tarts with Will and Harper.
I participate in a new tradition with my neighbors and kiddos-Cookie Day! Our babysitter, Nana, and her family hosts a cookie day each year. It’s kind of like a cookie exchange but everyone brings cookie dough and we spend the day baking cookies! For the past several years, I have made a family recipe called sandies. They are a round, shortbread cookie with chocolate chips. Here’s our family recipe:
1 1/2 c butter
1/4 c water
4 c flour
3/4 c white sugar
1bag chocolate chips
-mix softened butter, sugar, and vanilla
-add water and flour (dough will be very thick and hard to mix)
-roll into small balls and bake for 30 minutes at 325 degrees
Note: these cookies do not really rise so you can put them very close together on the cookie sheet
I like to try a new recipe each year, and last year’s new cookie was a browned butter snickerdoodle cookie from Tasty Kitchen. They were a huge hit and nominated the best cookie of 2012! How will I be able to top that this year?! The pressure is on, ha! Any suggestions?
