5 on Friday!

Happy Friday! I’m linking up with Christina and several others for 5 on Friday! I love this weekly random blog link up and enjoy reading other 5 on Fridays:)

{one} Graham crackers…I usually don’t eat them as a snack. I prefer them with s’mores or as part of a crust for a cheesecake.  However, I came across these thick cinnamon graham crackers at Trader Joe’s recently and love them! Will and Harper love them as well. You must try them, especially if you already like graham crackers!

{two} My Lisa Leonard necklace collection continues to grow! I wanted to get a necklace for Mother’s Day but the one I wanted was sold out.  I kept checking, and a few weeks ago, the fresh cut birthstone necklace was back in stock! I had Harper and Will’s names stamped on the front (not shown since I use their middle names on this blog) and their birthstones attached to them.  So pretty! 20140616-133823-49103990.jpg

{three} Chrissy from Simple Joys Blog and I hosted a fun summer blog gift exchange. Below are the fun goodies I received from Taylor of A Princess Made Mommy. Check out the full recap of what I received here and to see links to those who participated in the gift exchange. 20140616-133823-49103669.jpg

{four} Homemade frosty! Yum! Last summer, I came across this recipe for a homemade frosty similar to those at Wendy’s. I made it several times last year and last week our neighbor invited us to their house for a frosty.  The recipe makes so much that we each made a batch in our ice cream maker (she recently scored the same ice cream maker as me at a yard sale for $5! How cool is that?!).  Will and Harper were so excited about the homemade frosty and anxiously asked me every two minutes if it was finished yet! This is a fun and super easy summer treat!

{five} I purchased this cute beach towel for Miss Harper recently from Pottery Barn Kids. It was on sale and I had free shipping, so it wasn’t too bad of a price.  It’s so cute, with a pink whale in the middle! It matches Will’s blue and white striped one with a green turtle. Now we’re ready for the beach!20140616-133822-49102930.jpgI hope y’all have a wonderful Friday:)

5 on Friday!

Happy Friday! Today is my last Friday work day until August! Yay! I’m so glad school is almost out! I’m linking up with Darci and friends for 5 on Friday!

{one} I went to a friend’s baby shower last weekend and had a great time! I love going to baby showers…they’re so much fun! For this particular shower, they requested a book instead of a card. I love this idea! I chose Corduroy, one of my kiddos’ favorite books. It was so fun to see the great collection of books she has for her soon to arrive newborn son.

{two} Lemonade pie! I love this refreshing summer pie! We were invited to our friends’ last week for dinner and to celebrate their daughter’s college graduation.  I love to make desserts any time we are invited to a friend’s home, so I gave the new graduate a choice of desserts. She chose this yummy lemonade pie! Here’s the recipe: blend together 3/4 cup thawed lemonade concentrate, 8 ounces softened cream cheese, and one can of sweetened condensed milk.  Fold in 8 ounces whipped topping and put in a graham cracker crust (which I made from scratch-really easy).  Refrigerate for several hours before enjoying.  My husband suggested that I make this pie next time with a raspberry lemonade concentrate.  I’m going to have to try that…it sounds really good!20140603-204003-74403344.jpg

{three} I’m loving these beverage dispensers from Target! They seem to be really popular this summer. I think I may have to get one…right now, I use a pitcher for iced tea and lemonade when we have parties, but these are really nice! 20140603-204003-74403024.jpg

{four} My little gardeners! My mom gave us some tomato and pepper plants (she has a greenhouse and grows lots of vegetables and flowers) a few weeks ago and the kiddos have been helping me water them.  We finally planted them earlier this week and hope to grow some nice vegetables. 20140603-204206-74526879.jpg

{five} Our friend who graduated from college made this beautiful crocheted blanket for Harper’s 2nd birthday.  She told us a while back that she was in the process of making a gift for Harper but hadn’t finished it yet. When we celebrated her graduation last week, she gave this blanket to Harper.  I love it! So pretty and meaningful! She also made a pretty yellow blanket for Will when he was born.  20140603-210720-76040200.jpgI hope you have a wonderful weekend!

5 on Friday!

Happy Friday! I’m linking up with Darci and friends for 5 on Friday! Since school is almost out and it’s practically summer (yay!), I thought I would share some of my favorite summer activities from last year.  I also created a summer bucket list full of fun activities we hope to accomplish this summer:)

{one} We started taking the kiddos on hikes last summer, which was so much fun! Will’s a pretty good trooper and Miss Harper enjoys her ride in style! We plan on doing more hikes this summer and getting outside more.

summer hikes

{two} Growing up, my husband and I went to our local state fair.  We took Will and Harper last year (Harper for the first time; Will had been once before when he was one) and they loved it! Will is a ride junkie…he wanted to go on all of the rides!

state fair

{three} Catching fireflies at Grammy’s house last year.  Will’s cool aunt was helping the kiddos catch fireflies (or lightning bugs-what do you call them?) last summer.

{four} Playing in the water! We bought a small inflatable pool last summer and the kiddos loved splashing around in it.  They also enjoy the water table.

{five} Exploring our local parks…we have numerous parks in our area and I’m sure we will visit them all of them this summer.  Here’s Miss Harper trying to catch up with her big brother.  I can’t get over how small she was last summer! While she’s still petite, she has definitely grown a lot since last year.

What’s on your summer bucket list?!

5 on Friday!

Happy Friday! I’m linking up with Natasha and friends for 5 on Friday:)

{one} Spring blooms! I’m loving this weather and the gorgeous flowers that are popping up around us! School is almost over and summer will be here! Yay!

{two} Water Wows-these are really fun no-mess paint with water coloring pads from Melissa and Doug.  You fill the pen up with water and “paint” on the scenes.  The color magically appears and dries so you can color the pictures over and over again.  We enjoy these coloring pads in the car as well…it’s a fun travel activity.  20140519-220546-79546437.jpg

{three} Making pb and honey sandwiches! Will has really been big into helping me in the kitchen lately and was thrilled when I told him he could make his own peanut butter and honey sandwich for his field trip this week.  We typically eat leftovers for lunch (even the kiddos…I pack them leftovers and they have hot lunches every day at the babysitter) so it’s rare that we have bread in the house.  We just aren’t big sandwich eaters.  However, my husband and Will went on a field trip this week (see picture below) and I needed to make sandwiches for them.  Now Will has been asking for a peanut butter sandwich all the time, ha!20140519-220546-79546014.jpg

{four} I was unable to go on Will’s field trip this week due to conflicts with school, so my husband went.  He texted me pictures throughout the morning of Will and his preschool friends having their field day, which was so fun!  For this field trip, they headed to a local park and set up stations with a variety of games and activities.  They also had a picnic lunch.  My husband told me that Will was so shy and clung to him most of the time.  Here’s a picture of his class (he’s in the green striped shirt). 20140520-211422-76462841.jpg

{five} Essential oils-do you use them? I’ve been reading more and more about them on blogs and am curious about them.  I picked up some orange essential oil from a local store the other week and plan on making a bug spray that’s safe for kiddos.  I just haven’t gotten around to making it yet, ha! I’m sure it will be one of my weekly Pinterest project posts:)20140520-212306-76986165.jpg

I hope you all have a super weekend!

5 on Friday!

Happy Friday! I’m linking up with Darci and friends for 5 on Friday! I’m looking forward to a relaxing weekend with my family:)

{one} This girl…she cracks me up! I snapped this picture of Harper at Nana’s (her babysitter) last week. She was rocking the big yellow shades, posing on her tractor! She has so much personality..I love her to pieces!

{two} Lilac blooms! It’s definitely spring here in Virginia! This week, temps got up to 90 degrees! It felt like summer! I can’t wait until summer–I will be off from school and at home with my kiddos. I’m starting to plan activities and and fun summer projects for us:) Check out my toddler boy summer must-haves post!

{three} Speaking of summer, the kiddos enjoyed popsicles the other evening with our neighbors.  I need to pull out my Zoku quick popsicle maker and use it more this summer.  My husband and I always say that we will grill more in the summer as well, but for some reason we don’t. I love to grill and would like to at least once a week this summer.  Actually, I don’t really grill..my husband does. That could explain why I love it so much-it means I get a night off from cooking dinner! Any good, easy grilling recipes that you would like to share?

{four} We drove down our road the other evening and spotted this newborn calf.  The cows in the field next to us used to have calves all the time, but a few years ago, the farmer moved those cows closer to the barn for monitoring. It’s been such a long time since I saw a newborn calf in the field near us that I got so excited, ha! I just had to take a picture and text the farmer to let her know!

{five} Chocolate chip cookie pie! Yum! I found the recipe here and decided to make it after my husband saw someone post it on Facebook.  He is frequently showing me dishes and desserts that people share on Facebook and asks me if I can make them.  This chocolate chip cookie pie is really yummy.  I think I added too many chocolate chips though (they all sunk to the bottom) since it’s really chocolately and not as much cookie.  I highly recommend it heated up for a few seconds in the microwave and topped with some vanilla ice cream!

I hope you have a fabulous Friday!

5 on Friday!

Hello! I’m linking up with Darci and friends for 5 on Friday!

{one} Matching daddy and son:) I snapped this pic last Sunday after we got back from church and just love how they match! Speaking of matching clothes, I always try to have Will and Harper in coordinating outfits.  Not necessarily matching, but in similar colors.  Does anyone else do this?  Every night when I’m picking out their clothes, I make sure their outfits go well together.

{two} Starbucks is having their frappuccino happy hour until tomorrow, May 10th. From 3-5pm, you can get frappuccinos for half price! Such a great deal! I haven’t had a frappuccino in a while but had to take advantage of this deal with a mocha cookie crumble frappuccino! Yum!

{three} It’s almost water table time! Will and Harper have been begging me to get the water table out but it hasn’t been warm enough consistently.  I finally broke down and got it out from our crawl space (well, actually my husband got it out) and put it on our porch.  We’ve been waiting for warmer weather so that we can fill it up with water and play in it.

{four} I’m loving the spring blooms! I took this picture the other evening when we took a walk to see our neighbor’s horse and donkey.  Pretty apple blossoms!

{five} Anthropologie…they have some really cute stuff for your home.  I love these latte bowls! However, my kitchen is almost at capacity and I don’t have much more room for anything new.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

5 on Friday!

Happy Friday! We’re gearing up for Will’s fourth birthday party tomorrow, which will be tons of fun! I can’t believe that he will be four…the time has flown by! I’m linking up with Carolina Charm  and several other bloggers for 5 on Friday.

{one} Recently, I have been entering more giveaways and contests on blogs and Facebook.  Several weeks ago, I won some model airplane kits.  Last week, I won this cute Organic Bloom frame from a local photographer who was having a giveaway on Facebook. I’ve been eyeing the Organic Bloom frames for a while but they are pricey.  I’m loving this cute mini frame, which will go well in Miss Harper’s purple and blue bedroom.

{two} I’m enjoying having freshly picked (from our garden) flowers but my allergies are bad:( I’m frequently sneezing and have a scratchy throat.  Not fun, but it’s too nice not to be outside enjoying spring.  I’ve always heard that a good allergy remedy is to take a teaspoon of local honey each day.  Has anyone tried that?  Does it work? Now to seek out some local honey…I need to check out our local farmer’s market.

{three} I took Will last week to get his hair cut, and of course Miss Harper wanted to come with me.  Will has always done a great job getting his hair cut.  He especially likes going to our hair stylist because she always has a graham cracker snack for the kiddos.  Last time we went, Harper wanted her hair cut as well.  Denise, the hair stylist, let her sit on the chair and gave her a pretend haircut.  Now, Harper insists that she gets her hair cut after Will each time!

{four} I recently went through Harper’s clothes and finally moved them from a drawer in my dresser to her room.  Her dresser had been mostly empty until now.  It was just much easier for me to grab her clothes from my room since the changing table is in there.  However, I decided it was time for me to reclaim my dresser drawer! It’s amazing how many clothes I have accumulated for her and Will.  I buy clothes from my friend who has a little girl who’s almost four (her birthday is actually the day after Will’s and we were in the hospital at the same time; her room was right down the hall from me!), and my sister-in-law ships me her daughter’s old clothes. While I have tons of fall/winter clothes, my spring/summer clothing stash is looking a little small.  That means more clothes shopping! Fun!

{five} Young House Love is one of my favorite home DIY blogs! I love reading about Sherry and John’s latest home projects.  Target recently started carrying a collection of products designed by Young House Love.  I’m loving the wall hooks, especially the key hook.

I hope you all have  a great weekend! I will be back at the beginning of next week with a recap of Will’s 4th lego birthday party!
